Required Benchmarks to be a Firebreather
I’ve heard this term more and more lately. Went hunting for an answer. Some said it was just a feeling while others said it was a requirement.
Firebreather Benchmark Requirements
- Baseline: <10mins
- Fran: <7 mins
- Angie: <30 mins
- FGB: >300 reps
- CrossFit Total >350% body weight
- 2 Kilometer Row: <7:45 mins
- Karen: <7 mins
- Daniel: <40mins
- Grace: <15mins
- Murph: <1 hour
Whether this is just an internal facet of CrossFit Costa Mesa (US) or a CrossFit wide requirement, they’re still some good targets to aim for, and something I’ll be keeping in mind.

Hey Brother! Those requirements are our own creation of what we believe makes a good foundation of a “CrossFit Firebreather”. We picked ten workouts that cover some broad modal domains and set some time restriction as well. We keep a board in our gym documenting the success of our members as they meet and exceed these preliminary bench marks. BUT, what truly makes a Fire Breather in our opinion are the men and women who push through the limitations of the physical self and create massive breakthroughs in their fitness! Hope that helps. Love your site.
